My Entrepreneurial Journey

My life started in Victoria on Vancouver Island, and my schooling in Catholic Schools. But my post high school education and career begin in Vancouver when at 19 years old just before leaving the island I met my now husband who had immigrated into Canada a few years earlier from Hawaii.  As I headed to Simon Fraser University to pursue a Teaching Career, my husband who was a very talented Hair Stylist trained under Vidal Sassoon in Toronto, opened his first Salon on Robson Street in Vancouver.

But perhaps, what I didn’t know during that period of my life and soon discovered, that the school system was not the place I wanted to be working under as I was a totally independent soul.  I also learned that I was very interested in business as well.  I began doing marketing for the d/t salon very successfully, managing staff and doing bookkeeping & eventually I became a business partner.

We were a power team, and with the success of this company and opening up a second company personally in real estate development, at the age of 26 together we purchased our very first home in Shaughnessy. A huge accomplishment for a fairly new Immigrant, and a Middle class Canadian girl.

After the births of three children, my career continued independent from our Family Companies.  I was in Real Estate for 7 years being one of the first independent 100 percent house Realtors in Kerrisdale. And lastly, over 22 years ago I became one of the first groups of Canadian Business Coaches in Vancouver.  I guess you can say, I became full circle, but my inevitable path was business education and entrepreneurship.

Creating a VISION

After belonging to a number of Business Networks in Vancouver in the 1990’s, and holding a major Leadership Position for over 7 years doing over 250 Business Events sponsored by TD Canada Trust and being myself from a generation of Women Feminists , I wanted to create something better and more fulfilling for the new Female Entrepreneur in the formalized Business Community.

I wanted to create a safe environment like the people I had business coached over the years, where there would be an immediate acceptance and not judgement and where one could truly be their authentic selves in a business setting. And where all diverse cultures could come together professionally , as I saw that there where still some that felt marginalized to join in. I also wanted to include other missing Professionals in the Creative Fields that were not represented equality.   Besides that , I wanted to make sure that each Business were to succeed in a more profound way. All of my Business Chapters are educated and supported by Personal & Professional Coaches.

I am very happy to say, that the first chapter that was developed has succeeded my expectations. I think we have really hit it out of the park by really listening to the wants and needs of women. So we are carefully moving forward with other Chapters for the future. And as I end every Meeting and after our gratitude ring, I say to you” We believe in You!”. I hope you can join us!
